2 public meetings, participation is important, attend if you can

2 upcoming meetings of note, courtesy of Envision Franklin County:

Brownfield Grant Program Public Meeting:  June 2, 5pm, Library
The city will be applying for a grant to assess and mitigate brownfields around Frankfort.  They will talk about redeveloping these properties.  There will be light refreshments served.

City Commission Meeting:  June 8, 5pm, City Hall
Two topics of interest.  First, Envision has been encouraging the city to get funding to design the reconstruction of Holmes Street.  This is the next logical step in implementing an area plan that had been done in 2006 by the city.  The commission will talk about this and whether they want to pursue.

Second, there will be a presentation and discussion about making West Main Street open to two-way traffic.  The state will present a traffic model that shows how traffic would flow if this change was made.  City staff will present their concerns and arguments against it.  Interested citizens will be presenting why they should move forward with this.  Currently, there is a remaining $43,000 in state funds that can be used for purchasing traffic signals, signs, and striping.  It is a proposal that Envision supports.

26 May 2015: Introduction to Frankfort’s Trail Town Project

A good chance to learn about what’s happening on the river in Frankfort.

An Introduction to Frankfort’s Trail Town Project
Tuesday, May 26 @ 6:30pm

The Kentucky River is the water supply for 750,000 Kentuckians with a watershed including nearly all of 41 counties. As people begin to reconnect with the river after generations of neglect, the Kentucky provides scenic and recreational resources that offer an opportunity to expand its role far beyond water supply. Ed Councill will present an Introduction to Frankfort’s Trail Town Project to inform community members of the current Lock #4 portage pilot project as well as efforts being made to have the city designated as a “Trail Town” by the Kentucky Department of Tourism.

This presentation is free to the public and will take place in the Library Community Room. For more information, contact Diane Dehoney at 352-2665×108
