Dear Neighbors,

The next South Frankfort Neighborhood Association’s quarterly meeting will be on Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church’s Fellowship Room. A copy of the draft agenda is attached.

The meeting will be extremely informative and at the beginning of the meeting we will have one piece of business to vote upon, the revised bylaws for the organization.

Some primary changes to the bylaws (all versions are attached: current, marked up with changes, and the final version if approved) are the boundaries of the neighborhood (extending to include Taylor Avenue residents), a per-household instead of per-person membership fee, committee structure, SFNA’s purpose, and uniformity of terminology (President to Chairperson is one example).

The current bylaws state that proposed amendments be sent to all members at least ten days prior to the meeting at which they are to be approved. They also state that “no business shall be conducted at a meeting of the membership or the board in the absence of a quorum of at least one third (1/3) of the members.” This e-mail shall constitute the ten day prior notification to the membership and for those paid members that are not on this e-mail distribution list, a hard copy of the attachments shall be mailed to them. We are encouraging everyone that is a paid member (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011) to attend this meeting to help us attain a quorum. From the quorum we are required to have a simple majority vote in favor of the amendments to the bylaws for them to be adopted.
