Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits – Annual Report for 2015

This is the federal report that summarizes the national impact of the federal rehabilitation tax credit, which is available to income-producing historic properties.  This credit has been used on over 41,000 projects around the country, generating $78 billion in investment, since its inception in 1976.

In 2015, 870 projects were completed and 1283 more were approved, representing $11 billion in rehabilitation expenses to revitalize those places of cultural, economic, and social significance to our local communities.  Over a third of the housing units created were for moderate and low-income individuals/families.  Each project generated an average of 98 local jobs.

Kentucky’s approved and completed projects in 2015 amounted to $100 million alone.
