SFNA 4th of July Information and call for officer nominations

e want to wish everyone to have a safe and happy 4th of July tomorrow!!!!

To start a reminder that our weekly trash pick-up will be postponed until Monday, July 7. The good thing is that Frankfort will be offering a free pick-up week on our regularly scheduled day during the week of July 14!

If you want to get an early start on patriotic activities tomorrow, then head to Buffalo Trace for their annual 5k through the grounds of the distillery. Then, join SFNA to parade down Paul Sawyier drive at 11 a.m. in your patriotic bike, trike, stroller, or wagon (helmet wearing is encouraged) to finish at Dolly Graham Park for hot dogs and frozen treats. Take a small break, but keep your decorations on and head across the river to Liberty Hall for their Old Fashioned 4th of July event kicking off at 2 p.m. with another bike, trike, and stroller parade to showcase your patriotic spirit – complete with watermelon and prizes! Finish the day watching fireworks provided by the VFW – veterans and families are welcome at Capital View Park at 7 p.m. for dinner. If you want to stay close by the neighborhood, then come to the Capitol Annex parking garage for a safe and unobstructed view of the fireworks. SFNA has requested that the top level of the garage be closed to vehicles and the city might have a firetruck for the kids to explore and Walk/Bike Frankfort and Folkbike Recyclery will be present with their bike blender machine demonstrating how to use our energy to power a blender for perfect smoothies!

Regarding the SFNA’s next meeting on July 24th we will hold officer elections and would love to know if you are interested in serving as an officer! The current Board has been discussing some changes to the bylaws, and if you are interested in being an officer we would like your input prior to distributing the proposed changes to the full membership. In order to do this, we need to talk to you next week! In accordance with the current bylaws, the proposed changes will be distributed to the membership next weekend for their review prior to the meeting.

Have a great weekend!
Katie and your SFNA Board
