preservation grants / SFNA e-news additional items June 2014

Dear Neighbors,

We understand that some residents had difficulty maneuvering the streets this morning during the last leg of the Frankfort Trifecta race series coordinated through the YMCA. This series has been an annual event and today’s race was the longest of them all which required the closing of more streets than normal which provided an inconvenience, particularly to the residents of the east side of Capital Avenue.

We will do our best to get notice of such activities out to folks as soon as possible so that everyone is aware and can plan accordingly.

When the SFNA Board meets on Thursday night, we will discuss communicating with the city to request that permits for street closures take into consideration the impact it will have on residents and we will also request electronic signage be placed in the affected areas – especially if no alternative route can be provided to allow access to residents only within the course route.

On another note, I received word yesterday (during the time I was drafting yesterday’s SFNA e-mail and missed the notice) that the City of Frankfort is hosting a public workshop for any property owners interested in the Preservation loans and grants programs on Wednesday, June 18 at 5:30 in the Public Safety Building, public meeting room at 300 West Second Street.

This is a rare opportunity, never offered by the City before and we only have funding guaranteed this year! There are many types of eligible projects including restoring wood windows and siding. To view the applications, see the link to our website home page announcements here:www.frankfort.ky.gov. They will also meet individually with prospective applicants by appointment (502) 352-2097. Please see attached flyer for additional information.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend! Looking forward to seeing some of you on Friday, June 20 at the Kings Center dinner; Friday, July 4th at the SFNA kiddo parade and cook-out or that evening on the upper level of the Capitol Annex parking garage (remember we have requested people who drive to park inside the garage on levels 2-6, enter through Old Lawrenceburg Road, and are encouraging residents to walk to the event); or on Thursday, July 24th at the SFNA’s quarterly meeting at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church.

Katie
