SFNA March-April 2013 e-news

Happy almost Spring! It’s just right around the corner and we are starting to see some flowers budding and new grass is growing. This weather has been strange over the last few weeks, but the cold will soon be gone and we will be able to enjoy our beautiful outdoors and streets again!
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, April 18 for the next SFNA quarterly meeting. The Executive Committee and Board will be meeting tonight, 3/14, to brainstorm some ideas about what the topic will be. If you have any suggestions, please respond to this e-mail and let us know. The quarterly meeting on 4/18 will be at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church on the corner of Steele and West Third Streets (please enter the Fellowship Hall from West Third). We will open our doors at 6 p.m. for a social and dinner hour and then begin the meeting at 7.
The proposed meeting minutes from the January 24 meeting are attached. The cold evening brought out some wonderful people and organizations that showcase our little basin in the heart of Frankfort. The relaxed atmosphere allowed people to casually network and learn more about our non-profits. We also met two of the three 2012-2013 scholarship winners. We learned that the students are very deserving of the full and partial scholarships we will be awarding and they are individuals that will succeed in life and represent South Frankfort and Frankfort Independent Schools well in their college life and beyond.
Please check out the attachments to this e-mail. We have included some newsletters we receive from other organizations that might be of interest to you. Also attached is our Membership Application. Our membership year runs on a fiscal year schedule from July 1 to June 30; however, we decided that if you submit your dues between April and June, then we will go ahead and apply them to the next fiscal year cycle. Also check out this website for a new group in Frankfort that promotes encouraging our children to become more active in body and mind – http://kidsgrowkentucky.org/. Frankfort Independent Schools are accepting nominations for their Hall of Fame. The nomination form is attached – since the expiration date has passed, please contact Mr. Smith to see if they will still accept a nomination if you have a great candidate in mind.
See you guys in April and at other events in our Downtown and South Frankfort area! Look for the next SFNA e-mail around the first of April.
