Oct 2012 SFNA e-news

Our quarterly meeting is tomorrow night! The doors will open at 6 for a veggie soup dinner with salad and sandwiches provided by the SFNA Board Members. We do ask for a small donation for the dinner that will be deposited into our scholarship fund. Last year, we started this social hour as an opportunity to chat with our neighbors and as a fundraiser for various projects SFNA is involved with. Our meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and after a few committee reports, we will hear from Joy Jeffries from the Frankfort Tourist Commission to speak on the status of Riverfront Development and we will also hear from the Kentucky Heritage Council on a tax credit opportunity available to historic property owners that are interested in doing some rehabilitation projects on their property.

Speaking of the scholarship fund…we have distributed the application packet to the Frankfort Independent School system and are requesting that all applications be returned by Friday, November 16. If you have or know of a student graduating from FIS between now and May 2013, then ask them to pick up a copy of the packet or print out the attachment. The scholarship was created in Randy Bacon’s memory and additional information about Randy is in the packet.

Shew, Frankfort has been a busy little town and I have not been able to get notice to you guys about everything that has been happening. I hope some of you were able to participate in some of the activities of late, but here is an attempt to provide you with notification of future events happening around town.

A side note, I have heard that the Louisville Hill sewer/storm drain project is coming along nicely. They are in the third week and it is expected to last no more than 10 weeks.

The SFNA Facebook page has about 200 followers and the e-mail distribution list is around 200. We are working on a goal of increasing both of these numbers…would 500 people on each be too much to request? Will you help make this happen? Also, attached is our membership application – we try to keep our annual expenses down, but we do encounter some printing and supply costs.

Thank you guys so much for all that you do! I hope to see you on Thursday at our meeting and around this wonderful city of ours!

Katie and the rest of your SFNA Board
