SFNA September and October 2011 Information and Dates of Interest

Dear Neighbors,

This week is homecoming week for FHS! They play cross-town rival FCHS on Friday, 9/9 at 7:30. Please show your support for the Panthers and wish them luck! They will have a homecoming parade starting around 12:45 on Friday and will be on Capitol Avenue, Second Street, and then into the downtown area by crossing the Singing Bridge. If you by chance are an alumni of FHS, then please consider attending the game and an all alumni reunion afterwards at the Capital Plaza Hotel.

SFNA’s annual picnic is just over a week away on Sunday, 9/18 from 4-7 PM! Do you know which dish you want to bring or plant you want to trade? Please print the attached flyer for your business and forward it to all of your friends. This is one of our largest fundraisers for the Bacon Scholarship (due 11/15 and the application will be on website within a few days). It is also a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the day with our neighbors in a relaxing setting. Don’t forget we have moved the picnic over to Dolly Graham Park.

SFNA is hoping you can clean out some closets and rooms to donate for possibly our first ever neighborhood yardsale to help benefit the Bacon Scholarship Fund. Christa Sweger has some space set aside to start collecting donations. Please e-mail her if you wish to go ahead and give us some items or if you want to help out. We would be happy to receive stuff at the picnic too!

Volunteers needed for newsletter delivery: Today members of the board finalized the Fall Newsletter. So Bob Bickner is now looking for some volunteers in delivering copies around our neighborhood. If you can help, please e-mail us. So excited that we can now deliver down Taylor Avenue!

SFNA memberships are up for renewal as of July 1, 2011. Please see the attached membership application and mail back to the PO Box listed. Our membership dues help out with the cost of the annual picnic, newsletter expenses, other social events (clean-up day, 4th of July parade, and winter holiday activities), and also they help supplement our Randy Bacon Memorial Scholarship.

Please be sure to check out the SFNA website at www.southfrankfort.org or the Facebook page. If you would like additional information, wish to add someone to our e-mail distribution list or remove your name, then please send an e-mail to sfna.news at yahoo dot com. The SFNA Facebook page has about 150 followers and the e-mail distribution list is around 200. We are working on a goal of increasing both of these numbers…would 500 people on each be too much to hope for? Will you help make this happen?

See you next weekend at the picnic!
