Louisville, KY (April 16, 2010) – The Department of Highways District 5 Office advises motorists in Franklin County to be aware of impending construction on US 60 at the Capital Avenue Bridge and on US 60X at the Singing Bridge  .  Work will begin the week of April 19th for repairs to the Capital Avenue Bridge on US 60 followed by painting of the steel girders on the underside of the structure.

While the majority of the work will be performed underneath the bridge, lane closures are possible on the northbound right lane and the adjacent sidewalk. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.  No lane closures will be permitted on the following dates:

May 1, 2010                            Kentucky Derby Breakfast
May 8, 2010                            YMCA Marathon
June 11, 2010                          United Way Marathon

Once work on the Capital Avenue Bridge is completed, the Singing Bridge on US 60X will be closed in mid to late June for painting.  During the bridge closure motorists will need to detour the area via West Main Street, the Capital Avenue Bridge and US 60.
